1. Introduction
Welcome to Understanding Brain Injury ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, courses, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
By purchasing a course, creating an account, or using any part of the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
2. About the Services
Understanding Brain Injury provides online educational courses for healthcare staff, family members, and caregivers of individuals with brain injuries.
We offer two primary courses:
- Understanding and Supporting Brain Injury in Nursing Home Care (for staff)
- Understanding Brain Injury: A Guide for Families and Caregivers (for families)
All courses are self-paced and delivered online through our learning platform. Course content is for informational and educational purposes only.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase a course and create an account. By using the Services, you represent that you meet this requirement.
If you are purchasing on behalf of a facility or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
4. Course Access and Use
When you purchase a course, you receive a personal, non-transferable license to access the course content for your individual use.
Access Period: 12 months from the date of purchase.
Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You may not share your account or login details with anyone else. Sharing access may result in termination of your account without refund.
Permitted Use: You may view the course content for your own learning. You may not:
- Copy, reproduce, distribute, or publicly display course materials
- Resell, sublicense, or transfer access to the course
- Use the content to create competing educational materials
- Record, download, or screen-capture the course content unless explicitly permitted
5. Payment Terms
Pricing: Course prices are listed on our website and are subject to change. Prices are in US Dollars.
Payment: Payment is required at the time of purchase. We accept major credit cards and other payment methods as displayed at checkout.
Failed Payments: If a payment fails, we may suspend or terminate your access to the course until payment is resolved.
Taxes: You are responsible for any applicable sales tax or other government charges. We will add applicable taxes at checkout where required by law.
6. Refund Policy
We want you to be satisfied with your purchase.
Individual Course Purchases: You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase, provided you have completed less than 20 percent of the course. To request a refund, contact us at course@brain-injury.org with your order number.
Facility/Group Purchases: 14 days, no seats accessed at all.
How to Request: Email us at course@brain-injury.org with your name, order number, and reason for the request.
Processing: Approved refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 14 business days.
Exceptions: We reserve the right to deny refunds in cases of suspected abuse, excessive usage, or violation of these Terms.
7. Certification and Completion
A certificate of completion is issued upon successful completion of all required course components, including any final assessments and a passing score as specified in the course.
Certificates are issued for educational purposes and do not constitute professional licensure, certification, or accreditation unless explicitly stated. Unless otherwise noted, our courses are not ANCC-accredited at this time.
8. Educational Disclaimer
The content provided in our courses is for educational and informational purposes only.
It is not medical advice. The content does not replace professional medical judgment, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult qualified healthcare professionals regarding the care of any individual.
No Guarantee of Outcomes: We do not guarantee any specific results, improvements in care, or professional outcomes from taking our courses.
9. Intellectual Property
All course content, including text, graphics, logos, videos, assessments, and the overall design of the Services, is owned by Understanding Brain Injury or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may not use our name, logo, or branding without prior written permission.
10. User Conduct
You agree to use the Services only for lawful purposes. You may not:
- Use the Services in any way that violates applicable laws
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Services
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services or servers
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users or our staff
- Post or transmit any malicious code, spam, or offensive content
We reserve the right to terminate access for violations of this section.

Our total liability for any claim related to the Services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the course in question.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the Services, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Services shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the United States.
