Understanding and Supporting Brain Injury in Nursing Home Care

Brain injury changes how a person thinks, remembers, processes information, regulates emotion, and functions from hour to hour. Too often, those neurological realities are misread as attitude problems, noncompliance, refusal, laziness, or being difficult. This course teaches nursing home staff what brain injury actually does, and how to respond in ways that support recovery instead of escalating distress. Built from lived experience and clinical evidence, it covers emotional seizures, fluctuating abilities, routine as a cognitive support, pain, sensory sensitivity, sleep, stress, nutrition, and documentation that describes behavior instead of labeling the person. Designed for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, activities staff, and social workers in long-term care. Self-paced, practical, and grounded in the daily realities of nursing home care.
